Mobile and touch screen web play a huge role in the reason people only have to scroll to look through various pages of a website rather than click on a button. It simply makes functions easier. You can actually save time and browse quicker when you use the scrolling feature over the clicking feature.

For whatever reason, it has been recognized that flat design is quite popular this year and has been quite consistent in its popularity. It is going to continue being popular and well-used into the year of 2015. It should also transform more into material design as well.
